The 16th New Industry Congress

On 1st & 2nd of October 2019, the 16th New Industry Congress took place in Warsaw. As part of it, several sessions were held regarding the Polish energy and fuel sector. During the sessions, were discussed issues related to the country's energy policy and security, as well as issues of challenges and solutions related to the development of new technologies. The participants of the session 'Industrial energy' also discussed the problems of energy-intensive industries.

TAMEH POLSKA sp. z o.o. was represented by Tomasz Bożek, a member of the board, who, on the example of our plants, located at the steel mill of ArcelorMittal Poland S.A., discussed the use of various fuels to generate electricity and other energy utilities.

"TAMEH POLSKA sp. z o.o. combines the competence of producing electricity, heat and steam as well as blast furnace and compressed air, mainly for their supply to steel mills of ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. At Zakład Wytwarzania Nowa in Dąbrowa Górnicza we have 200 MW of electric power and over 460 MW of thermal power, which is sufficient for the needs of the former Huta Katowice and the city of Dąbrowa Górnicza. We supply ArcelorMittal Poland's Krakow steel mill from the Generation Plant in Krakow, where we have installed over 260 MW of heat and soon, i.e. after the commissioning of a new 55 MW turbogenerator, we will have 105 MW electric. At the same time, after completing the investment in our Kraków Plant, from mid-this year, we no longer use hard coal as fuel. As a result of the above changes, in both of these plants, TAMEH POLSKA will use almost 70% of the metallurgical process gases as fuel, in about 23% coal and additionally coke and natural gas. The use of gas generated during the iron smelting as a fuel reduces the emission of pollutants emitted to the atmosphere by both smelters and allows the effective use of chemical energy in these gases. On the other hand, the TAMEH POLSKA professional power plant Zakład Wytwarzania Blachownia, produces electricity and heat in cogeneration. The only production fuel is coke oven gas supplied by AMP from Zakłady Koksownicze Zdzieszowice. "
