Construction of a waste gas cleaning installation and modernization of boilers OPG 230 in ZW Nowa

Generation Plant Nowa in Dąbrowa Górnicza

In the next three years TAMEH POLSKA sp. z o.o. will build waste gas desulfurization and denitrification installation in the heat and power plant in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Following its completion, Generation Plant Nowa will meet new very strict requirements of IED Directive.

Waste gas desulfurization installation is based on a GE-patented technology of semi-dry desulfurization of waste gas i.e. NID™, which is one of the most advanced  solutions currently available on the market and guarantees highly efficient reduction of sulfur oxides (SOx) and dust emission. In Poland, GE has successfully completed similar installations in heat and power plants in Janików, Bydgoszcz and Poznań. The installation in Generation Plant Nowa with five NID™ modules will clean up to 1 600 000 Nm3 waste gas per hour and will be one of the biggest installations for semi-dry desulfurization of waste gas in Europe.

The installation of catalytic desulfurization of waste gas i.e. SCR, tail-end type, will make it possible to meet the increasingly stringent requirements concerning NOx emissions. Blast furnace gas coming from ArcelorMittal Poland S.A. Unit in Dąbrowa Górnicza will be used to heat up waste gas coming to SCR installation.

“We expect that after commissioning, IOS and SCR installations will guarantee that SOx, dust and NOx levels in waste gas are kept below 180 mg/Nm3, 10 mg/Nm3 and 190 mg/Nm3 respectively, and as a result a full compliance with IED Directive will be secured which will enable us to continue operating all steam boilers in Generation Plant Nowa after 2017”.

“We are proud to cooperate with TAMEH POLSKA sp. z o.o. on such an important investment thanks to which Generation Plant Nowa will meet very demanding European requirements regarding emission of pollution resulting from the generation of electric energy and heat” – said Beata Stelmach, GE CEO (Poland and the Baltics). “GE NID™ and SCR technologies provide our clients with unique solutions which make it possible for them to face the increasingly stringent environmental regulations, and at the same time ensure reliable supplies of electricity and fulfillment of environmental standards”.
