Another project in ZW Nowa has been put into operation.
Generation Plant Nowa in Dąbrowa Górnicza is now entering the critical phase of the erection of DeSOx and DeNOx installations. The project worth approx. PLN 300 million, to be finished at the end of 2018, will greatly limit emission of harmful substances and dust.
Heat and power plant operates based on the combustion of coal and gas in power boilers which generates waste gas. Thanks to this enormous investment involving the erection of waste gas cleaning installation, waste gas will first undergo desulfurization after it reacts with lime and will then be dedusted in bag filters.
Following the desulfurization and dedusting, waste gas will be directed to the denitrification installation. Once it is heated up to approx. 270°C, waste gas will go to a special reactor where with the use of ammonia solution it will undergo denitrification. The process is somewhat similar to the operation of a catalytic converter in a car but it happens on a much larger scale.
The progress of erection works is now at over 80%. Once the project is completed, our environmental impact will drop significantly. The installation will make it possible to reduce emission of sulfur and nitrogen below 200 mg/Nm3, and dust below 10 mg/Nm3.
The project also includes modernization of boilers OPG-230 nos. 1÷5 and a stack.
