Construction of new gas boilers in Generation Plant Kraków is entering a critical phase
The construction of new gas boilers in Generation Plant Kraków is still in progress. The new boilers with the capacity of 150t/h of fresh steam will use blast furnace gas, coke oven gas and natural gas and will make it possible to completely eliminate hard coal. As a result the emission of sulfur and nitrogen compounds, as well as dust will drop significantly. The two new boilers are almost 20 meters high and were designed in Denmark. Our employees affectionately call them “gnomes”. Out of the suggested names for the boilers, Odin and Thor were chosen to refer to their Danish origin.
Both boilers were put into operation. Most of the necessary tests and fine-tuning works were already performed. The construction should be completed by the end of the year.
